What to do in and around Ashland

A visit to Ashland and Southern Oregon would not be complete without experiencing some of the many treasures this area has to offer. August in this region is gorgeously hot, sunny, and dry and there is much outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, river rafting, swimming, fishing, and lounging. The town itself is situated along the base of the Siskiyou Mountains and many trails lead straight into the forest from the edges of town.

There are also many wineries if one fancies a tasting. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is considered one of the best in the country and we have enjoyed the plays they offer there (both Shakespeare as well as contemporary), visit www.osfashland.com for a list of plays showing on their three stages. Downtown Ashland is full of artisan markets, shops, art galleries, great restaurants and more including the famous Lithia park that follows along the river that flows through town. Within an hours drive are mountain lakes, the Rogue and Klamath Rivers, incredible Mt. Shasta, and national forests with wilderness areas. Crater Lake N.P. and the Oregon Coast are both a couple hours away.

If you do plan on coming early or staying later than the weekend, let us know and we can try to help you come up with some nice things to do. There are many bed & breakfasts in Ashland as well as hotels. Rental cars can be picked up at the Medford Airport, about 15 minutes from town. Please remember that we are inviting people to stay at the venue from Friday evening til Sunday morning.
