Before Berlin, Noemie and I had stopped in Nuremberg for what was to be the last World Cup 2006 soccer match for the country whose name I carry on my passport. Dateline: Nurnberg. June 22, 2006. The United States of America against Ghana. Decked out in red, green, and gold, and marching to a thumping rhythm, we entered the stadium. Actually, wearing those colors were the Ghana fans. Noemie and I were just following them and enjoying their energy. |
